I lectured at Princeton University yesterday.
It is always a great pleasure to share good practice in Trauma Reporting with journalism students. Soon they’ll be heading out on the road and into the homes of victims and survivors who wish to share their painful stories.
For many students, this can be daunting. Having lectured from Boston University to London City to Sheffield, Oxford and Nottingham, among others, the concerns around how best to work with people who are hurting are universal.
The students are the editors and correspondents of the future and it is heartening for me to see how incredibly receptive they are to getting trauma reporting right.
